The Parisian luxury label Jitrois, founded by Jean Claude Jitrois, specialises primarily in exclusive leather collections. The designer who gave the label its name revolutionised fashion worldwide with the invention of stretch leather, which is still the trademark of Jitrois today. The Jitrois collections inspire with unprecedented designs and quality that is second to none. Leather jackets in black and dresses in brilliant colours are the heart of the collections.

Jean Claude Jitrois: from leather jackets to fashion

Jean Claude Jitrois, born in France in 1944, was already influenced by leather in his childhood, as his father, a French Air Force pilot, always wore a leather jacket that he was not allowed to touch or wear. Originally, Jitrois worked as a child psychotherapist and often used clothing as a therapy tool. In the interview, he reports that leather gave children the feeling of being protected and brave. This experience eventually inspired him to turn to fashion.

The new meaning of leather: Jean Claude Jitrois' vision

Over the past decades, leather has repeatedly taken on a new meaning. For example, before the 1980s, leather was considered more masculine, as it stood for war and protective clothing. In 1960, it stood for rebellious villains. So the vision for Jean Claude Jitrois was quickly clear: he wanted to emphasise the positive side of leather.

Leather as a second skin

In the 1990s, the French designer then made the discovery that was to change everything for him: stretch leather, which not only looks great but also feels perfect on the body, focuses light and attracts attention. After the 2000s, many brands were aware of the potential that leather represented, so it quickly took over the mass market. The designer thus increasingly focused on natural materials, such as silk, embroidery, and delicate overlays worked with the leather.

The secret of Jitrois' success

The designer has worked with many celebrities, including Brigitte Bardot, Princess Stephanie of Monaco, Heidi Klum, Beyoncé, Rita Ora and many more. The Jitrois label has revolutionised the fashion world and is now sold worldwide. Whether leather jackets in black or leather dresses with colour, the French fashion impresses with high quality and a pleasant wearing comfort. The Jitrois jackets inspire fashion lovers all over the world. In addition to the jackets, the short dresses made of leather are absolute bestsellers. They captivate with bright colours and unique quality. The leather fits perfectly to the body.
